Spring 2026 Meeting Recap

The Joint Labor Management Committee of the Retail Food industry (JLMC) held our spring Trustee and General Membership Meetings on May 12th and 13th Pittsburgh, PA.

At our meetings, we bring our Trustees and members together with industry experts to discuss issues in the retail grocery industry and benefit issues in multiemployer trust funds that we are all concerned about. Our goal is to provide a forum for the discussion of these important issues.

At the spring meeting, members heard from recognized experts on a variety of topics, including:

  • An update on the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) from its incoming President, John Slatery.
  • A discussion about federal legislation and regulatory oversight of employee benefits from the JLMC’s legal counsel, Jeff Endick of Slevin & Hart
  • An update on workplace regulatory developments from Elizabeth Malloy and David Barron from Cozen O’Conner
  • An overview of ancillary benefits from Ed Kaplan, Segal’s National Health Practice Leader
  • A discussion around the growth of health plan point solutions led by Dr. Sadhna Paralkar, Segal’s National Medical Director
  • A look at generational conflict in the workplace from Dr. Michael Urick, Dean of the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government at Saint Vincent College

In addition to these discussions, the Trustees received an update on the Tuition Award Program’s second year of applications.

The JLMC holds two meetings each year over the course of two days for each meeting—one in the spring and one in the fall.
